From Ipanema to Copacabana...
05/12/2008 20:07hey guys i finally arrived in Brazil yesterday night...
but had a bit of a disappointment checking into my hostel as i shared a 10 square meter dorm with 9 stinking people and the sheets smelled like old folks. but thats not it! people were super unfriendly and we shared a (uberdisgusting) bathroom with 5 dorms (5 times 9 people!) toilet full of vomit and other things.. a smell to die! and when i talked to some other girls ( that had been traveling for 3 months and never saw a place like that) they said there wasnt any warm water and sometimes nearly any water in the showers...
i didnt close my eyes the hole night, as i was really trying to but BEDBUGS kept biting me! ( for the people who dont know bedbugs:
A bedbug (or bed bug) is a small nocturnal insect of the family Cimicidae that lives by hematophagy, or by feeding on the blood of humans and other warm-blooded hosts.
AAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and they are transparand and small!!!!!!!! I seriously needed to get out of there!
so today i traveled all about the city to find and other place to stay, and believe me it wasnt easy, as its the high season and most places are fully booked but finally found a hostel called Mellow Yellow in Copacabana! Its a big hostel with hot tub!!! and 2 bloks from the beach! (hopefully better weather tomorrow)
i sleep in a 6 bed FEMALE dorm this time but havent met my roomies yet, as i was taking a looong nap and they were probably out doing more interesting stuff...
My first impression of Rio (although it hasnt gone smoothly this time) is quite nice! very dynamic, although people function very slow here!! Plus, u can get everything in non- fat and light version :) lots of frozen yoghurt and salad bars!
so guess what ill be eating tomorrow :p
